Buying from Black-owned businesses, for example, is one way to to practice allyship each and every day, support our communities, and help bolster the economy. And since studies show that the pandemic is hitting Black-owned companies the hardest, it is especially important that we do what we can to help these entrepreneurs. While there are many fantastic companies to support, today, we’re focusing specifically on Black-owned glassware shops. Buying pieces for our homes has taken on a different kind of weight as we continue to spend so much time inside—all the more reason to invest in some gorgeous glassware. Below, some of our favorite Black-owned glassware brands to help you shop with purpose and beautify your space in the process.
Estelle Colored Glass
Arguably one of the aesthetically pleasing shops out there, Estelle Colored Glass boasts a fabulous array of rainbow-hued glassware. Stephanie Summerson Hall (an attorney-turned-business-owner) curated a joyful collection of stemware (see above!) and cake stands inspired by her grandmother, Estelle, and their trips to antique shops growing up in South Carolina. Just looking at her vibrant designs puts you in a better mood.
Marie Burgos Collection
Designer Marie Burgos has a streamlined collection of sophisticated home décor, but her glass light fixtures are a particular standout. Our favorites include her spherical-shaped pendant lights made from hand-blown and painted glass. Born and raised in Paris, Burgos draws inspiration from French design and her family’s native home of Martinique.
Laguna Candles
Technically a candle brand, Laguna Candles—founded by Sharie Hendricks—sells their series of soy candles in stunning, hand-blown glass vessels. These vessels are reusable and eco-friendly, and, best of all, are works of art themselves. After you’ve burned through the wax, display the jar and use it as a pretty catchall for jewelry, keys, or makeup.

Made By Rheal is a Black, queer-owned Etsy shop featuring a gorgeous array of trays crafted from American-made glass.
