Prince Charles and Camilla live busy lives attending engagements and maintaining their official duties as members of the royal family, but the married couple of nearly two decades still make it a point to spend time with each other. The Duchess of Cornwall told British Vogue in a recent interview that while it can be challenging with their busy schedules, they carve out time to connect each day. “It’s not easy sometimes, but we do always try to have a point in the day when we meet,” she shared, People reports. “Sometimes it’s like ships passing in the night, but we always sit down together and have a cup of tea and discuss the day.”
Even if it’s brief, the royal says “it’s lovely to catch up” with Prince Charles when they both “have a bit of time.” Camilla shares that they like to simply “just sit and be together” to enjoy each other’s company. “You know when we go away, the nicest thing is that we actually sit and read our books in different corners of the same room,” she said. “It’s very relaxing because you know you don’t have to make conversation.”
Of course, the royal couple attends outings together, too, which may be less quiet, but definitely serve as quality time. Just this spring, the pair went to the Irish Cultural Centre (ICC) in London ahead of St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate the holiday. They took a tour of the facility, learned about the center’s history, and attended classes and performances.
During the outing, the Prince of Wales even gave pulling a Guinness a try. He got a few pointers on how to tip the glass, but the royal still had a bit of trouble pouring a pint, much to Camilla’s amusement. As the prince tasted the beer, he got a little froth on his nose before the drink got a chance to settle. His wife subtly told him about the gaffe—and he couldn’t help but laugh alongside her.
