Prince Charles and Camilla had much to celebrate when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their way back across the pond for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex brought along their two children, Archie and Lilibet, marking the first time the Prince of Wales met his youngest granddaughter in person. “It was a fantastic visit. The prince was delighted to see his grandson and meet his granddaughter for the first time,” a royal insider said, People reports.

The Prince of Wales loved seeing his son and daughter-in-law, too, noting that it was “wonderful” to have them back in the United Kingdom for their visit. This trip was especially meaningful, as it was Lilibet’s first time in the United Kingdom to meet her royal family and Archie’s first time back since he was was six months old. “The Prince and the Duchess [of Cornwall] were absolutely thrilled to see them,” the source added.

It was a sentimental time for Prince Charles; he couldn’t hold back his joy while witnessing his granddaughter’s milestone first birthday and visiting with his grandson. “It was very special to have some time with him,” the royal source said. “He hadn’t met Lilibet, his granddaughter, and so to meet her for the first time was very emotional—it was a wonderful thing.”

Lilibet also got to meet her namesake for the first time during her visit to the United Kingdom: Queen Elizabeth. “Lilibet” was a nickname given to the Queen during her childhood, as the royal couldn’t fully pronounce her own name throughout her toddler years. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle introduced their daughter to her great-grandmother in honor of the little one’s first birthday.
