Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are set to welcome their first child within the month. As they prepare to meet their little one, they are also planning to create a new royal tradition (which will actually break a longstanding ritual!), Marie Claire reports. While christenings within the royal family are usually limited to immediate family only (photos are shared with the public afterwards), it’s very possible that the parents-to-be will hold a public church baptism. The reason? Eugenie’s own christening was public—and she is expected to follow suit with her own child.

The couple announced the royal’s pregnancy back in September with some help from Buckingham Palace, People reported previously. “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021,” the palace shared in a statement. The couple shared the sweet news on Princess Eugenie’s personal Instagram, too, with a pair of baby shoes in frame. “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021,” she wrote in the caption, alongside a baby emoji.

While the pair met a decade ago and are approaching three years of marriage this October, they still remember the origins of their relationship as if it were yesterday. In fact, it was “love at first sight,” Eugenie said in an interview with BBC 1’s Matt Baker—and Jack agreed. “We met when I was 20, he was 24,” she recalled. “We fell in love. We have the same passions and drive for life.”

A skiing trip in Switzerland set the stage for their first date, People noted. And Princess Eugenie hilariously thought her now-husband made some interesting choices in fashion. “I thought, ‘What a silly hat!’” she joked. “And I thought, ‘Who’s that?’” She added, “And then [looking at Jack], you came over and shook my hand and I was all butterflies and nervous.”
