Wedding bells will soon be ringing for Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens! After nearly two years of dating, the couple took to their social media accounts to announce their engagement. The Olympic champion posted the exciting news with a series of photos, and she shared that saying yes to her now-fiancé’s proposal was a no-brainer. “THE EASIEST YES,” Biles wrote. “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ @jowens_3.” The Houston Texans NFL player shared a sweet comment of his own on her post: “Ready for forever with you.”

Owens popped the question in an outdoor gazebo in Houston, Texas, and Biles’ photos featured a slideshow of several images from the sweet moment—including Owens down on one knee and the pair celebrating their engagement together. The post also included a video of the gymnast’s custom-made oval-cut engagement ring with a diamond-encrusted band; it was designed by ZoFrost, the owner of ZoFrost & Co. Owens noted that he “woke up this morning with a fiancée” and that Biles had “no clue what was coming” on his own Instagram.

Biles and Owens made their relationship public on social media in August 2020, after initially meeting on the dating app Raya. The Olympic gold medalist previously shared on the Today Show how much Owens means to her. “I just love him,” she told Hoda Kotb, People reported. “We have a great time together. Our personalities match right up. We have the same sense of humor. And he’s just great.”

Plus, she noted that their respective careers—and shared love for dogs—helped them align even more. “He’s an athlete too, so we really understand each other and I think that’s why our relationship has been seamless,” Biles added. “And he also has a bulldog, so I feel like, besides him being a cherry on top, that was really amazing. And our dogs get along well.”
